Learn balboa swing from scratch! Balboa is known known for its close-embrace “hug-like” connection and fast shuffling footwork.
Please note that this class will go at a slower pace than our Beginner Bootcamps or Beginner Workshops. Our focus will be on learning the basics, key moves and techniques essential to balboa.
No partner or experience necessary.
However, we recommend that you have at least one year of social dance class experience (e.g., lindy hop, WCS, Argentine tango, etc.)
Closed-toe dance shoes recommended. We HIGHLY recommend wearing slick-soled shoes (e.g., leather soles) that allow you to slide your feet across the floor.

Mission: to foster a Balboa community that is inclusive and honors the original spirit of this historic social dance
Balboa is… a swing dance from the 1930’s and ‘40s known for its close-embrace “hug-like” connection and fast shuffling footwork. It’s great for dancing to fast music while using much less energy than its lindy hop and collegiate shag cousins.
One of the fun ways to inject creativity into your balboa dancing is to explore using new and different ways of connecting with your partner. In this class, we’ll show you some of our favorite, unusual connections, and help you discover new connections for yourself.
